{"id":95,"date":"2011-11-08T11:09:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-08T11:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cocktailfarmers.com\/?p=95"},"modified":"2011-11-08T11:09:00","modified_gmt":"2011-11-08T11:09:00","slug":"pumpkins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cocktailfarmers.com\/?p=95","title":{"rendered":"Pumpkins!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to our success with tomatoes this year we also claim success with the pumpkins.\u00a0 Moving them to the back-40 field and essentially ignoring them seems to have done the trick.\u00a0 We harvested 23 Jack-Be-Littles:<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-Pgkjijq6YJk\/TpgIspVhApI\/AAAAAAAAAIg\/Wo5HZT0so0s\/s1600\/CIMG4577.JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" oda=\"true\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-Pgkjijq6YJk\/TpgIspVhApI\/AAAAAAAAAIg\/Wo5HZT0so0s\/s320\/CIMG4577.JPG\" width=\"320\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Seven Orange Smoothies:<\/p>\n<table align=\"center\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-hCRy_KeFEBU\/TrkNEXHI2dI\/AAAAAAAAAJQ\/AjTcfa-oIe8\/s1600\/CIMG4717.JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" ida=\"true\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-hCRy_KeFEBU\/TrkNEXHI2dI\/AAAAAAAAAJQ\/AjTcfa-oIe8\/s320\/CIMG4717.JPG\" width=\"320\"><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>The orange smoothie is the one in the front<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>And two Howdens.\u00a0 One of which rotted before I could photograph it, and I&#8217;m not sure where the other one went in the big pile on the porch.\u00a0 The Lumina vines were eaten by bugs.\u00a0 So no Luminas, but that&#8217;s okay.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll try again next year.\u00a0 We did decide that we needed bigger pumpkins for carving later this month, so while we were in New York we purchased we purchased five Jack-o-Lantern pumpkins for carving from an Amish farmstand and added them to our own haul.\u00a0\u00a0<span> They came out even better than last year<\/span>:<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-TDQByQ_T5-E\/TrkMT_RY1kI\/AAAAAAAAAJI\/MYjnF8flgk8\/s1600\/CIMG4721.JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" ida=\"true\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-TDQByQ_T5-E\/TrkMT_RY1kI\/AAAAAAAAAJI\/MYjnF8flgk8\/s320\/CIMG4721.JPG\" width=\"320\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>In celebration of pumpkins, nothing says fall like a pumpkin spice martini.\u00a0 We discovered these last year, when we purchased a bottle of Hiram Walker&#8217;s Pumpkin Spice liqueur for Halloween and tried to figure out what to do with it.\u00a0 The result was the martinis.\u00a0 The liqueur is only available in the fall, so once we used it up last year, no more pumpkin spice martinis.\u00a0 Imagine my excitement when J brought it home this year.
