<\/a><\/div>\nIt’s been a very rainy and wet spring.\u00a0 J was finally able to get the tilling done out back on Friday night, and when he was finished, it looked like this:<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\nOnce that was done, we could think about planting the pumpkins and watermelons.\u00a0 We created mounds to plant the seeds in:<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\nPut the seeds in……<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\nAnd covered them up:<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\nIt was really muddy.\u00a0 Really, really muddy:<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\nIt was a great excuse to wear my frog boots, however!\u00a0 (They’re left over from my days as a Conservation Commissioner.\u00a0 So yes, I’ve worn them out in public.\u00a0 I’m not known for my fashion sense, but I am known for my practical footwear.)\u00a0 The whole thing felt a little like a, well, Monty Python movie.\u00a0 At least I was laughing as I squished through the mud with my hoe.<\/p>\n
We planted Jack-Be-Little, Lumina, Howden and Orange Dream pumpkins, and planted Sugar Baby watermelons.\u00a0 We have hope that we will get both plants and pumpkins.\u00a0 Watermelons would be great too, but we’re mostly interested in the pumpkins, because of our love of Halloween:<\/p>\n
